Below is a multi fuel capable adiabatic 2 cylinder mono stroke horizontally opposed VLB direct injection piston engine.
Evidently, it was designed, built, successfully tested and proven viable by a
group back in 1992. It has it's own built in flywheel. The transfer oval (Scotch Yoke)
is of one piece construction, is ultra light weight and extremely rigid. The transfer oval / rod and piston assembly are said to be able to withstand
extremely high forces which
are otherwise so far unobtainable by any other type of reciprocating piston engine.
|
|
Note: This is a 2 cylinder engine. Only
one half of the engine is being shown. Opposite cylinder is exactly the same and
runs 180* degrees out of phase with the right cylinder.
It is essentially composed of two 2
stroke cylinders coupled through a single one piece scotch yoke (oval) with a
piston on each end. The end result is a MONO STROKE engine achieving 2 very long
high torque power pulses per revolution!.

Infrared band power stroke. Sign wave to show frequency. Dark color used to show what is normally undetectable by the human eye.
Not high temperature!

|
|
End of power stroke. Cooling oxygen rich exhaust gasses. No harmful emissions present. The orange color is simply to show a lower temperature than the infrared band.

|
|
Just before exhaust valve shuts, a small amount of the oxygen rich exhaust gasses are trapped which will combine with the incoming fresh air charge. This occurs at higher rpm's as adjusted by ECU controlled exhaust valve
timing for optimum performance.
